Healthy Lifestyle
Being healthy is not about dieting, just to return to your old ways once you "go off" the diet. Being truly healthy and happy is about having a lifestyle that remains right for every stage of life.

I CAN run 6 miles!
My Husband and I took our two kids to the Rosebowl where he suggested I try to run it twice while I had the chance to without pushing the stroller! I have to admit I set out to fail, but I realized I had more stamina than I gave myself credit and did 6 miles! I think I could have gone around again but my shoes are worn out (I'm buying a new pair this week) and so my knee and foot were starting to ache. I wonder if I could do well in a 1/2 marathon...?

I Ran Like A Race Horse!
That is what the t-shirt from the Santa Anita 5k says on it. I ran it in 27.18 minutes and I would have to say it really was not hard at all! I could run a longer distance and still feel fine so maybe I'll do a half marathon sometime. Funny though, after it was over I have not ran at the gym for three miles since then. In fact, I prefer the elliptical and stair climber.

I'm back!
I have had a little hiatus from posting on my blog. Part of this could be due to me being a little discouraged to my progress of losing ALL the baby weight, as quickly as I did with my first baby! Now I have a plan of attack which I think will help me drop these 10 lbs I have been hanging onto.
1.I have been waking at 5:00am and getting to the gym by 5:30, for the last 2 weeks (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday).
2.I have increased the pounds when I am lifting weights (I can lift more than I thought!)
3. As of last week I signed up for my first 5k which is this Saturday on the Santa Anita race track! I am so excited and have been running 3 miles in 28 minutes 12 seconds, every other day. I learned about this late or I would have really had time to train, but I will do what I can in the short amount of time.
I think lifting heavier weights will really have a payoff in the end. I think I was in a rut, as far as my workout routine goes, and now I am pushing myself harder!
Stay tuned for progress reports, and photos of my first 5k on the 9th

Pasta Salad with Tomatoes and Blue Cheese
This is from Fitness Magazine, so I can't take the credit!
It's a very filling lunch, especially if you use whole wheat pasta.
Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook time: 10 Minutes
Makes: 6 Servings
3 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons cider vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons chopped fresh marjoram (I didn't have any so I left this out!)
1 teaspoon salt
Pinch red pepper flakes
2 cups cherry tomatoes
1 lb. pasta (I used fusilli in the picture but prefer bowtie)
1 cup baby arugula
2 ounces crumbled blue cheese
-Mix the first six ingredients together
-Cook the pasta until al dente, drain and transfer to a large bowl
-Quarter the tomatoes and pour the vinaigrette over
-Toss the pasta, arugula and tomatoes together, then toss in the blue cheese

Back into it!
I went to the gym for the first time in 5 weeks, yesterday. It felt great to be able to push myself and really burn some calories. I did the elliptical, stair climber and chest weights. I really feel it in my chest today.
Today I am going to go running, and tomorrow I hope to go to the resistance weight training class at 24 hr. fitness, which I LOVE!
