I went to my monthly pregnancy check-up last week and learned I had gained 5 lbs in one month!! AHHH! This is something I should have known but have not stepped on the scale recently. My nurse practitioner (who I love!) told me to "just be careful". She then looked at my charts and commented that I had gained 10 lbs, and was already halfway through so I was doing just fine. It did get me a little nervous though, and motivated me to be a little wiser with what I eat. I thought back... I had taken my daughter for an ice cream cone (which I shared with her), I made homemade banana pudding with REAL whipped cream (on a weeknight none the less!), I had been a little lax as I nibbled on a cookie here, some m & m's there, helped myself to some dessert when we had company, and never weighed myself. Needless to say, this week I have been super careful! No more sweets, and I am back to writing down EVERYTHING I eat, and sticking with 1400-1500 calories a day. Yes, I have given some things up, and there have been more than one night that I could have used a little extra snack before bed but reminded myself how much I would enjoy breakfast.
The weekend is here and on Sunday I have always treated myself to something sweet and taken the day off from writing everything down, but this was a good wake-up call!
